I’d like to take this opportunity to welcome back all of our former students, families and staff and extend a warm welcome to our newest Smithson Lions. We are very excited about this upcoming school year! Staff members have been busy planning and preparing for our students’ arrival in order to provide a successful start to the school year.

We make every effort to communicate regularly with our school community. As an ECO-friendly school, we do not generate a paper newsletter throughout the year. Instead, we routinely use a program called School-Day where information and updates are sent directly to your email account! You can also use it to pay for trips, pizza and other activities (more information about this program is included on the last page of this newsletter). Our school website — www.smi.wrdsb.ca — and our Twitter account @smiwrdsb —are other ways we keep in touch with our school community. Please check these sources regularly for information!

We are looking forward to working with our students and families this coming year. The staff members at Smithson are an extremely dedicated group of individuals who recognize and value the importance of partnering with our parent community to best meet the needs of all of our students. Please do not hesitate to contact staff members or myself with any questions or concerns that might arise throughout the school year.
