1. As many of you know, Mr. Steve Bergen composed the Canadian Flag Waver song, and that our Smithson students were involved in the taping of the music video for this song. Mr. Bergen’s Flag Waver song and video, created right here at Smithson Public School and featuring our Smithson Public School students will be on The National on CBC this Friday evening at 10pm. There is also a possibility that the song and video will be on Coach’s Corner this Saturday night between the first and second period of the Toronto vs. Montreal hockey game, also on CBC.
2. Pre-Registration for Before/After School Programs for 2015-2016. If you are interested in having your child(ren) attend a WRDSB Before and After School program at Smithson Public School, please pre-register between February 2nd and April 13th. It is important for families to pre-register to determine if programs will operate. Please check the “school Files” tab in School-Day or our school website www.smi.wrdsb.ca for a flyer with additional information.
- We are looking for Strong Start Volunteers for the Spring session of Strong Start; Letters, Sounds and Words program which helps develop strong literacy skills in young children. Please call Christine Burry at 519-954-7343 or the school office at 519-578-3890, if you would be interested in being a Strong Start volunteer. Training is provided.
- Report Cards go home for all of our K-6 students on Friday, February 20th.
5. Our Daily Breakfast Club starts each day at 8:15 am in the library. Students have a nutritious hot breakfast and then go outside for supervised play at 8:40. Lately, we have had several students arriving at 8:00, this is a reminder that students should not arrive until 8:15 am for Breakfast Club as there is not sufficient supervision prior to 8:15 am.
