- Smithson Track and Field
The Smithson track and field event for junior students (grades 4, 5, and 6) will be held on Wednesday, June 8, 2016 at Smithson P.S. The rain date will be Thursday, June 9th. All students will be expected to participate. The events that students will participate in will include: sprints, 200 m, high jump, running long jump, standing long jump, softball throw and obstacle course. The day is to be fun for all students and all we ask is that students give their best effort in all events. The events will run from 9:15-10:30, 12:05-12:55 and 2:00-2:50.
The following is a list of things to bring to the track meet:
- Appropriate clothing (for weather conditions)
- Hat, sunscreen, water bottle
- Cheering, positive attitude (Smithson PRIDE)
- A healthy substantial snack
2. Monday, June 13th is the final due date for students’ library books. All library books must be returned by June 13th. Please see Mrs. Collie in the library if you are unable to find a book that you have borrowed. Thank you for your co-operation.
3. Friday, June 10th-The Grade 6 class will be selling sundaes and banana splits to fundraise for their
year end trip to camp. Students will be able to Pre-Order at the first Nutrition Break until Thurs. June 9th.
Banana Splits are $3 (2 scoops, banana, 2 topping choices)
Half Splits are $2 (1 scoop, 1/2 banana, 2 toppings)
1 or 2 scoop Sundaes are $1.75 or $2.50 respectively (with 2 topping choices).
An additional single scoop is $1 (max 1 extra scoop per order).
Toppings available will be: Smithson coloured sprinkles; caramel, chocolate and 100% strawberry sauce; gummies, waffle cups, additional banana, and fresh 100% whipping cream.
Up to 2 additional toppings can be purchased for 50c each.
(We will be using Chapman’s Vanilla and Chocolate ice cream which from a nut-free + gluten-free facility; Lactose Free Sorbet (flavour undecided) can be substituted at no additional cost.) Watch for order forms
4. Save the Date: Friday, June 17th School Council presents Spring Fling from 5-8pm.
Bring your entire family out for the Ultimutts Stunt Dog Show, Food trucks Fo’ Cheezy and Fo’ Freezy
(check them out online) and games. More details to follow.
5. Popcorn and cookies sales continue every Thursday for $1 each at the Second Nutrition Break
