  1. The Pizza order for the period of February 4th – March 25th is now available on School-Day. Please place your child’s pizza order on School-Day by Friday, January 30th.  Pizza is $1.50 per slice.
  2. Reminder-PD Day on Friday, January 30th, no school for Elementary students.
  3. There have been a few cases of Fifth’s Disease in the school. The infection begins with mild flu-like symptoms followed by a red “slapped cheek” appearance and a red lacey rash on other parts of the body that can sometimes be itchy. It is transmitted by coughing or touching objects that have been in contact with someone who is infected and contagious.By the time the rash appears (4-21 days after being exposed), the individual is no longer contagious and therefore, students do not need to go home as long as they are feeling well enough to participate in normal activities.If you are pregnant/might be pregnant or have a blood disorder, Fifth’s Disease can be a serious concern. If you are in this position, please be sure to contact your doctor.
  4. Smithson’s Breakfast Club program provides nutritious breakfasts for the children that attend the program each day. We are very grateful for some recent donations to help run this program.  Thank you to our Smithson School Council for a $900 donation (profits from MacMillan’s fundraiser), $300 from our Grade 6 class fundraising efforts, $350 from ETFO (Elementary Teachers Federation) and $1000 from a private donation from a Smithson grandparent.  These donations are gratefully accepted to help run the Smithson Breakfast Program and help Smithson students get a nutritious start to their day.
  5. Kindergarten Registration will be on Tuesday, February 3rd and Thursday, February 5th. If you have a child, or know of a child that was born in 2011 or 2010, not currently in JK, they may register for school for this September.  Please call the office at 519-578-3890, to make an appointment to register.
