  1. Congratulations to Ms. Sauder’s Grade 2/3 class for winning the classroom pizza party for being the

Top selling class in our Chocolate bar fundraiser.  The class had their party last Friday, May 15th.

2.   Our Smithson School Junior Track and Field Meet will be on Wednesday, May 27th; Rain date is

Thursday, May 28th.  Please make sure that your child is dressed for the weather and has a hat and a

water bottle.

3. Friday, May 29th is a PD Day. No school for students on this date.

4.  Safe, Caring, Inclusive School Survey (SCIS) due by May 31st.

The SCIS survey for Parents/Guardians can be accessed through the Waterloo Region District School

Board website at:  www.wrdsb.on.ca or via a link posted on the school’s website at smi.wrdsb.ca .

5.  EQAO

The Education Quality and Accountability Office (EQAO) notified the WRDSB that they will not be sending the Grade 3 and 6 Reading, Writing

and  Mathematics assessment materials to any boards currently affected by labour action.  As a result, no WRDSB students in Grades 3 and 6 will

participate in the EQAO assessment this year, until further notice.

The Grade 9 Math assessment will proceed as planned in the WRDSB.

Should the labour situation change prior to the planned administration, EQAO has assured boards of education that they will update us immediately                with any proposed changes to this plan.

  1. To ensure the safety of all our Smithson students and families, we ask that dogs not be brought onto school property when dropping off or picking up students. Unfortunately, although dogs can be tame and reliable pets at home, their behaviour can sometimes be unpredictable in a crowd. We would like to ask for your cooperation in keeping dogs off of school property during morning drop off and afternoon pick up times.
