Good Morning! A beautiful, sunny , winter day at Smithson School and we are getting prepared for our Smithson Olympics on Friday. Today, students met in teams and created their team flags and a cheer for their country. After our opening ceremmonies in the gym on Friday we will be outside for the remainder of the morning. Please have your child dressed appropriately for outdoor fun. We will then be having a school wide “hotdog,” lunch in the gym with special treats from our friends at Tim Horton’s. We’ll be finishing off our Olympics with closing ceremonies in the gym. Thanks in advance to those of you who are able to join us on Friday as volunteers.

Please see important infomation below regarding our Extended Day Care registration fro next year. We are now accepting “intent of registration.” Instructions are below.  Please register your intent even if you  currently  have children in the in the program.

We are excited to announce that parents can register online for before and after school programs for next school year (September 2014- to June 2015). Registrations received between now and April 30th will be used to determine program viability for next school year. We would also appreciate it if you could let your families know that registration is now open for next year; if they think they will need care, they need to register even if they are currently in the program.

Communication regarding program viability for the September 2014- June 2015 school year will be sent out in May 2014.

  • If families would like your school to continue to offer Before and After School programs, please encourage them to register their child at www.wrdsb.ca/beforeafter.
  • We offer two Before and After school programs:
  • 1.) Extended Day program for children in JK – G. 22.) Youth Development Programs for children in Gr. 3 – Gr. 6 Program flyers and brochures have been delivered to each school. Please post this material in your classrooms and around school, after discussing it with your administrator.

 Please note that subsidies are available through the Region of Waterloo for eligible families. For more information on fee subsidies, families should call the Region of Waterloo at 519-883-2200.

 If families have any questions about the registration process or are without computer access and require manual support to register please call 519-570-0003 Ext. 4704 during regular business hours.

Kindergarten Registration is now open. If you have a child or know of a child born in 2009/10 please contact the school  at 519-578-3890 to set up an appointment to register for fall JK/SK.

Pizza orders are now due for March and April. Please access through School Day.
