Online preschool opportunity for families: Get Ready For School @Home
It is for children born in 2017 and free of charge to families. (Please forward this information to interested neighbours who might not yet be apart of our School day community.)
Strong Start’s preschool program called Get Ready for School is usually offered to families January – June across Waterloo Region in Community Centres. This year, as a result of COVID, we have developed an online version of this program, GRFS@Home. Registration is currently open and programs begin the week of April 20!
The 10-week program is available online with 20, 1-hour classes designed to support children gaining the necessary skills to make a good start to kindergarten. The focus is on vocabulary, letter-sound knowledge, self-regulation, and learning behaviours. Each family receives a bag of new learning materials and resources for use at home during online classes, and are theirs to keep. Parents are encouraged to use these materials to continue to practice skills their children learn in class.
