Dear Smithson Families:
We are kicking off the Holiday Season with a HUGE Food Drive in support of the local Food Bank. Today we had an awesome assembly with a guest speaker from the Waterloo Region Food Bank who told us that they support 28,000 needy families in our community each year. Our goal at Smithson Public School is to raise over 500 food items. Our campaign will run from December 2-December 13 and teachers will be sending home a note about the “themes,” of food items that they are looking for in each classroom.
To end off our campaign we will be holding an evening of entertainment on Thursday December 12 in the Smithson gym from 6:30-8:30 p.m. The evening will feature our Smithson Choir, a fiddle group from Eastwood Collegiate, a Jazz Quartet from WLU, local R & B musician Douglas Watson (his godson attends Smithson) and local blues legend John McKinley (his granddaughter attends Smithson). Refreshments donated by Tim Hortons. What an event! Admission is a donation (food or monetary) to the Food Bank.
Tickets are limited to our Smithson families first, however, due to seating restrictions we will have to limit the tickets to Smithson students and two guests. All ticket orders are due back to the office by Friday December 6 and then we can try to fill additional seating requests if space allows.
Please complete the ticket order form below and return to the school by Friday December 6th. All tickets will be issued on a first come first served basis. (hard copies of this letter will be sent home for ticket orders)
Thank you for supporting our Food Drive campaign!
Sincerely,
Food Drive Committee
Mrs. Graham, Ms. Harper, Ms. Sauder, Ms. Shimizaki, Mrs. Dorais , Mrs. Koch & Ms. Neimiec-Hodder
