From time to time across the WRDSB, there are necessary principal transfers and appointments. These changes are generated by, but not limited to, things such as retirements, new school openings, system need, leaves of absence, and so on.

It is with sadness and mixed emotions that I announce that I will be leaving Smithson PS as its Principal as of Friday, November 27th.  I will be moving to the Rosemount Family of Schools / Section 23 Programs as its Principal starting Monday, November 30th.  While I am excited about the new learning, challenges and opportunities this new position will provide, I am sad to be leaving the amazing students, families and staff of Smithson PS, who have become such an important part of my life.  Your children light up my days with their friendly greetings and smiles (even behind their masks), and I have always been so proud to have called Smithson “my school.”

I would like to extend a warm welcome to our new Principal, Heidi Mannhardt-Zender, who will begin here on Monday, November 30th.  She comes to us from being the Vice-Principal at A.R. Kaufman PS in Kitchener for the last few years.  I have worked with her in several different capacities in the past, and know that I am leaving Smithson in very capable and caring hands.

Thank you so very much for allowing me to become a part of the Smithson PS community – it has been an amazing experience to serve you all as its leader.

Best wishes to you all.  Stay well, stay healthy and stay kind.
