March 3rd, 2016
- March Break will be March 14-18th. There is no school that week.
2. Attendance Line-Unified Messaging
There are times of the year, this being one of them, where the system is overloaded with calls,
especially early in the morning right up until 8:30 am. Unfortunately, because of the way Unified
Messaging is set up, the UM system will not deliver a busy signal, but will “simply hang up”. WRDSB
and IT are looking at some possible solutions to this, but that will not be in place until they have
researched and tested. If you are trying to leave a message on our Attendance Line in the mornings,
please know that the system is not “broken” when it hangs up on you, this indicates that the lines are
busy, please call back until you can leave a message. Thank you.
3. Please note the following important student safety concern. Students should not be walking through
the school parking lot unattended to meet their parents at the beginning or end of the school day. This
is a serious safety concern due to the traffic in and out of the parking lot at those times of day. If you
must park in the parking lot, please escort your child to and from their entry/dismissal doors. Thank
you for helping to keep all Smithson students safe.
4. On Saturday April 16, 2016, the Parent Involvement Committee and Waterloo Assembly of Public
School Councils PRESENTS Strengthening Family-School Relationships: Achieving excellence and
well-being for all students. This event will be held at Bluevale Collegiate Institute, 80 Bluevale St N,
