February 12th, 2016

  1.  PD Day- Friday, February 26th. There will be no school for students on this day. In the morning

Teachers will be engaged in collaborative learning and in the afternoon, all staff will focus on health and

safety training.

  1. For the whole month of February we are going to focus on the “P” in Smithson PRIDE. Random Acts

of Politeness continues for the month of February.   If someone notices someone doing something

polite, they fill out a R.A.P. ticket, which will get posted on our front bulletin board!!

     3.  We are still accepting JK/SK registrations for September 2016. If you have a child, or know

of a child in our school catchment area who was  born in 2011 or 2012, they are eligible to attend

JK or SK in September 2016. Parents should register ONLINE at www.wrdsb.ca  to register

their child for Kindergarten.  If your child is currently attending JK at a WRDSB school, there

is no need to register them again.

     Once the online registration has been entered, parents will be invited to the school during      

     the week of February 8 to 12 to complete the registration process and validate the

     information submitted by the online registration. If you have any questions about this

4.  Report Cards go home on Friday, February 19th.

    5.  The Eastwood Travelling Troupe will be performing Crowns, Colours, and Capes for our Smithson

students on Thursday, February 18th at 9:15 am. Parents are welcome to attend.

6.  Basketball Club for students in Grades 5 & 6 runs until March 11th on Tuesdays and Thursdays from

3:15-4:00.

7. Intramurals for Grade 1-4 students:

Grades 1 & 2 students will be playing Catchball on Day 1 at the 1st Nutrition Break. Grades 3 & 4

students will be playing Handball on Day 5 at the 2nd Nutrition Break and Day 3 at the 2nd Nutrition

Break.

8.  The Lunch Box lunch calendar will be offering the following options for Feb/March.

order deadline is Sunday for the following week’s order.

9.  Popcorn and cookie sales continue every Thursday, at second break in the front foyer. Each bag of

popcorn or individually wrapped cookie will be sold for $1 each, with a 3 item purchase limit per

student. Proceeds go towards this year’s Grade 6 trip.
