- Online Kindergarten Registration has started for the 2016/2017 school
year!
If you have a child, or know of a child in our school catchment area who was
born in 2011 or 2012, they are eligible to attend JK or SK in September 2016.
Parents should register ONLINE at www.wrdsb.ca to register their child for
Kindergarten. If your child is currently attending JK at a WRDSB school, there
is no need to register them again.
Once the online registration has been entered, parents will be invited to the school during
the week of February 8 to 12 to complete the registration process and validate the
information submitted by the online registration. If you have any questions about this

2. PRIDE is a very important part of each and every day at Smithson. Did you know that each letter in
the word PRIDE represents an important character trait that we expect our Lions to show? For the
whole month of February we are going to focus on the “P” in Smithson PRIDE. Each classroom has
been creating a mural using words, pictures- whatever, to show all of the different ways you can be
polite. Then, we want everyone to start practicing! We want everyone to see how polite Smithson
students are!
3. The Lunch Box lunch calendar will be offering the following options for Feb/March.

Go to www.lunchboxorders.com to order these special lunches for your child. The
order deadline is Sunday for the following week’s order.
4, The Eastwood Travelling Troupe will be performing Crowns, Colours, and Capes for our Smithson
students on Thursday, February 18th.
5. Miss Reis and Miss Bradberry are running a Basketball Club for students in Grades 5 & 6.
Basketball Club will run from Jan 26th-March 11th on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:15-4:00.
6. Intramurals for Grade 1-4 students: Miss Bradberry and Mrs. Sergeant are running intramurals for
our Grade 1-4 students. Grades 1 & 2 students will be playing Catchball on Day 1 at the 1st Nutrition
Break. Grades 3 & 4 students will be playing Handball on Day 5 at the 2nd Nutrition Break and Day 3
2nd Nutrition Break.
7. Report Cards go home on Friday, February 19th.
8. PD Day- Friday, February 26th. There will be no school for students on this day.
9. Popcorn and cookie sales continue every Thursday, at second break in the front foyer. Each bag of
popcorn or individually wrapped cookie will be sold for $1 each, with a 3 item purchase limit per
student. Proceeds go towards this year’s Grade 6 trip.
