In recognition that Halloween is a day that many of our students (and staff!) look forward to each year, we will be having a bit of a “fun day” on Fri. Oct. 30th

  • students can wear “spooky colours” or “autumn colours” – i.e. orange / red / yellow  or   orange / black / green, etc.  (there are lots of fun Halloween themed face masks, socks, leggings, etc. available these days)
  • individual teachers will be making programming choices for the day, which may include sharing or creating stories and poetry, completing drama or art activities, physical education activities or watching a movie that have a Fall or Halloween theme to them
  • all students will receive a bag of Kernels popcorn;  money paid last week by parents will be used to cover the cost of this days popcorn  (you can still donate to the fund that these purchases come from by going to the “Products” page in School Day and making your purchase)

We know that many students (and their adults) are excited about the Halloween costumes that may have already been purchased, created or otherwise assembled – even if they may not be going out trick or treating.  We would love to see and share those pics through a “virtual Halloween parade”.  Please send a photo of your child (and family members and pets too, if you’d like) in their costumes – it could even be a pic from last year!  We will compile a video montage of all these pics, which will then be shared with staff and shown in classrooms (NOT shared publicly in any way).   Please note that this is entirely optional.

To submit your pic(s), please send them to Mrs. Moore (karen_moore@wrdsb.ca) no later than Wednesday, Oct. 28th at 5:00 pm, and include the name of your student and their homeroom teacher’s name with the picture.  If your student is engaged in Distance Learning – we’d LOVE to see your smiling (or spooky) faces in our video montage too, because we miss you, and you are still and always will be, a Smithson Lion!
