We have received further clarification from the Board in regards to changing the mode of learning for a student. At this time, we are not able to accommodate a change to a student’s “mode of learning” while we pause to solidify our in-person and distance learning classes. As you can imagine, the process of staffing both in-person and distance learning schools is a complicated and timely process that we are working through as quickly as possible, and to the best of our abilities. For more information, please see below.

A great source of information is our WRDSB FAQ page about the Return to School – access it HERE.

Q:

A family has indicated they will not be sending their child to school after having selected the in-person mode of learning.

A:

These students have the option of participating in their in-person class via D2L/Brightspace or Google Classroom, or accessing resources on the WRDSB@Home site.

Parents will still need to formalize their intentions to transfer to distance learning by the appropriate dates (October 16 for elementary students) and the transition to distance learning will occur on November 10th.

Q:

A family has contacted us about changing their mode of learning?

A:

The first opportunity for students to transition from one mode of learning to another will be November 10 (for elementary students), and intentions to change their mode of learning must be formalized by Oct. 16th. A process for requesting this change will be released at a future date.

As always, where there are extenuating circumstances, families may apply for an exemption using the appropriate form, and this form can be accessed by contacting the school Principal.
